Engagement Photos, Part 1

So you got engaged....now what? Believe me, there are PLENTY of things that come after that statement, but one very important one is engagement pictures. Now is the time to really be unique and show everyone who you are as a couple. Create a fun and memorable photo shoot and have amazing pictures to show off for years to come. However, remember to just be you! You don't have to be crazy or completely over the top (unless that's you, in which case, go nuts!) but you can still make it very personal and have a great time too. Pinterest has some really cute ideas, but make sure you are being true to yourselves. Do you listen to records on an old hi fi in the woods all the time or hang out at the carnival on Friday nights? If you do, you totally rock in our book, but if you don't, maybe it's a good idea to skip some of the themed ideas and not stress so hard about it. Though we do love a good theme around here. (More to come on themes in part 2!!) Nature and old buildings provide some great backdrops, and they are totally free. :)

Some of you may not think engagement photos are necessary, but here's why we think they're really important. Listen up:

* You establish a relationship with your wedding photographer early on. They'll know just how to shoot your pictures on your wedding day and what works best since they can see early on how you interact with each other.
*Take some where you got engaged, if you can. These will be great to look back on and reminisce or show your children.
*Capture all of your happiness before the stress starts to set in. :) Seriously, do it.
*Get some great practice if you feel nervous or don't like to be photographed. Not all of us love to be in front of a camera, so in order to get ready for your wedding day, this is a good start!

OK, so we talked you into it! Here are some great outdoor sessions to inspire you. Can't you see the love?
