How to find Inspiration for Weddings and Events

In our line of business, creativity is at the top of the list. We love working with different themes, color palettes and unique personalities. This keeps us on our toes and our creative juices flowing. But how do we find inspiration? Sometimes we are so inspired that we don't need to look anywhere else, but for those moments we're not (which yes, does happen),  we need an extra push.

We wanted to share some tips with you that make planning and coming up with creative ideas, a whole lot easier. Hopefully, you find them useful. :)

DIY Wedding Books

{You can buy it here}

We are HUGE on creating special touches at wedding and events. We like to put the "Stylishly Sweet" stamp on everything we do. One of our biggest resources for fun and unique DIY projects are the fabulous wedding inspiration books out there. The pictures are beautiful and they show you how to do the projects, step by step. There are also books that show color palettes, themes and tell you a bit about the weddings featured. A few of our favorites you can find here, here and here

You can also find great inspiration in wedding magazines as well as non-wedding related magazines. Martha Stewart always has fun projects and ideas, as well as Real Simple and other home decorating magazines. They can give you ideas on decor as well as what the hot colors for the seasons are.

I know, I know, seems pretty obvious, but you'd be surprised how many brides don't actually use this amazing resource. We have been able to glean so much inspiration from this website. Whether it's the hot new trends of the season, or seeing what type of weddings they are creating all around the world or just across the States. Be mindful not to pull ALL of your ideas from Pinterest. There are a lot of people who look at this site and pin the same ideas. Remember you can definitely get inspired and see what route you want to go with your own event, but be creative as possible and really make it your own.

Wedding Shows and Events

Attending local shows is really an amazing experience. Not only do you get to meet vendors from all different areas of the wedding and event industry, but you get to experience a runway show, taste yummy food and drinks and see beautiful displays. It's a wonderful way to see what really gets your blood pumping and point you in the right direction. No matter where you live, you can find local wedding shows around you. We can't wait to go to The Lab event this year and hopefully check out one this event as well.

Site and Venue Visits

Get out there and explore your area. If you know you want to have your wedding at a winery, start checking out your favorites online to see if they have wedding services, and start booking appointments. You definitely want to go take a look at these places in person to see how you feel while there and what they can really offer. As wedding planners, we love to look at museums, local parks, churches, warehouses, farms and other unique places where we could hold events. You just have to get out there and explore. It's amazing what you can find.

Hopefully some of these tips will encourage you to look in all different places for inspiration. Try to think outside of the box, do something different but stay true to yourself, and remember that we all are inspired in different ways.
