Our 2014 Goals

2013 was quite the year for us! We started Stylishly Sweet Events in March of 2013 and have been growing ever since. We are so excited for 2014 and what it can bring (it's already been pretty awesome, see this post) and we wanted to share some of our personal goals with you.

We think everyone needs to set goals. Goals help you keep the big picture in mind and continuously move you in the right direction. We all have set backs and hiccups in life, but if you have goals and dreams,  we truly believe, nothing can stop you.

2013 was quite the doozy for my family. We went through some super tough stuff with some really good times splashed here and there. I can say that 2013 really did help me grow in ways I didn't know were possible. Though we had some rough times physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, I can say that the good times were really good. You know? I got married, which was the biggest blessing in my life. I got to do some traveling, spend lots of time with family and end the year with a wonderful Mexico honeymoon. And we started this business, which is growing everyday and we're having a blast and feel totally blessed.

My goals for this year are simple but will hopefully make a big impact on my life. I want to happen to 2014, not the other way around.

1) Save money, stop spending, give back to the business: A huge goal for me is to stop spending frivolously and buying junk I don't need. I want to save at least half of my paycheck each week for upcoming trips, long term savings and big ticket items we need in the near future. Anything I spend in this first 6 months (other than necessities, gifts and travel money) will be for the business. And maybe I'll just keep that up!

2) Have an even stronger marriage and relationship with God: I put these 2 together because I feel like they really go hand in hand for me. I want to grow in my relationship with God and really learn to love like He loves, and I feel that will make me an even better wife. I have a super hot husband and he treats me so well. I want to love him, cherish him and continue to date him throughout our lives. I want 2014 to be a year of extra special bonding and in order to make sure that happens, I need to be in tune with God and seek His heart.

3) Give more time to people: So many people have blessed our lives this past year, I want to give back by spending time, making phone calls, writing HAND written cards and notes, stopping by with a cup of coffee just to say hi and I was thinking about them. I want to give back to people. I want to make a difference in someones life because Lord knows, people have made a huge difference in mine.

4) Be consistent, don't quit halfway through: Ugh, I have an issue with this. I LOVE to start new projects, but after a few days it's like "Well, this is taking a long time..." and I get bored. I really want to learn to be consistent, finish things I've started and maintain good habits. Going to the gym 3 days a week. Scheduling my life in my awesome Simplified Planner. Maintaining a clean, organized house. SAVE money. Doing what I say I'm going to do and doing the things that are important.

5) Get organized: I love organization...seriously, love it, but I have been slacking lately. This year I want to have all of our home finances organized, my office organized and ready for more planning and event prep and my new Stylishly Sweet storage unit (more on that later...big things are coming people) organized for easy picking. I want all areas of my life to be more in tune with what's going on around me and I want to be prepared for awesome things ahead. I have to get all of these little details in order to do those awesome things. I've already started and will be blogging about my progress.

And last, but not least, my word for this year is RenewI love the definitions that Websters offers. " To make new, fresh or strong again." " To begin something again with more force or enthusiasm. " Last year had it's tough moments, but this year, this year I will be renewed and make things happen. 2014, watch out!

2013 was a year of learning for me. I was also in difficult times (aren't we all) but realized that I wasn't going to let that define me. I didn't have a job, but that didn't stop me from starting Stylishly Sweet. I worried about income, but decided that I wasn't going to worry about those things that I had no control over. I learned that I could do without and with a LOT LESS.  Finally I learned that I am capable of doing great things, but that I let fear keep me from even trying.  I look at resolutions or goals differently, I don't believe they should be specific goals but more of how you want to look at the year as whole or how you want to FEEL. Ultimately it's how you feel that progresses you.

So this year I want to feel...

Impactful:   I want to feel as if I have made an impression on someone to better their lives, to go out and be THE best person they can be. To achieve the life they love, doing what they love, whatever that is. This journey of starting Stylishly Sweet has made me realize that having a passion for what you do and loving it is so satisfying. It stems out to everything you do in life.  I want to share that with everyone!

Peace: This is a year of self love for me. I have been at war with myself for some time now. We all go through the daily self-hate, not liking what we look like, what we are wearing, what we do, but no more!  This year I vow to find the positive in everything I can. It starts with me, looking in the mirror and finding that inner peace. ;)

Confident: I want to feel comfortable in my own skin. As women this is a daily struggle for us. For me, I think this means working out and eating more healthy. Notice I have not put a number down. I want to feel confident in my own skin, no matter what the scale says. If I work out, I feel good, and thus I feel more confident.

Inspired: I love to learn. Somewhere after we graduate from school we forget that we have many many many things to learn in life. I want to be inspired by new people, new ways of thinking and new adventures.

So 2014 is going to be a year of ACTION.  Action,is my word this year. I often come up with genius ideas, only to have them be just that, ideas. This year I intend to put every idea, every thought into action. If it works great, if it fails, that's great too.  I'm not longer sitting on dreams, I'm going to make them happen!

What are your goals for 2014? We'd love to hear them!

Keeping you Stylish,
Danae and Monica
