We celebrated our one year wedding anniversary in April of this year. This year was definitely one of the hardest years of my life. Actually, it WAS the hardest. On the good side, I married the man of my dreams, on the other side, I lost my only sibling, my brother, to Leukemia. Though I have wanted to enjoy this past year, there have been many, many days of sorrow.

So, we decided to do a photo shoot to celebrate our anniversary and to have photos to remind ourselves, "We made it through, and we're still in love." This year has definitely been a true test of what love is, and I'm thankful to have Ascander by my side.

I wanted to have photos done at the beach in Half Moon Bay and I wanted it to be romantic and easy. You know, where there is a slight breeze in the air and the sun is shining in that ethereal way? We ended up doing 3 outfit changes, it was freezing, the wind was whipping, the sun didn't come out once...le sigh...but all in all, they are probably my most favorite pictures of all time. I decided to bust out my wedding dress one more time, and he wore his wedding suit. It definitely felt like a dreamy day even though our noses and toeses (see what I did there?) were frozen.

Come take a look. Photography by Nicole Nelson.

I hope you enjoyed these photos. I ended up getting a couple of canvases from Easy Canvas Prints. They turned out beautiful, so I highly recommend checking them out.

All in all, it was a wonderful day and now we have amazing pictures to remind us of our first year married. I think it's important to celebrate with the ones that you love. Having pictures around our house is a wonderful reminder of why we're in this and that yes, we can get through anything.

What about you? Did you get one year anniversary photos taken, or are you thinking about it? We'd love to hear your thoughts!

Keeping you Stylish!
